Installed Wingate and then network cards missing!

Postby surma884 » Sep 14 04 9:04 am

I installed WinGate VPN with ENS v5.02, and after I rebooted my network cards were gone! They didn't get detected. When I checked them out in the Device Manager the two network cards had an exclamation mark on them. And the propeties tab said that the card could not start or something.

When I uninstalled WinGate everything was back to normal.

Here is my setup. I have one Ethernet card and one WLAN 802.11b card where I get my internet from on the first computer. I have a second computer with another Ethernet card, and both the computers are hooked up through a hub. I have WinXP with Service Pack 1 running on the computer where I installed WinGate. Before I installed WinGate everything was working fine. I could see my other computer and I could also connect to my wireless router.

What could be the problem? How can just installing WinGate screw up my network cards?

ENS is a network level driver. It is possible that there is an incompatibility with the two cards. What make, model and driver versions do you have installed?

5.0.2 is also a fairly old release - you can use your 5.0.2 license with version 6 (OR version 2 of VPN) and still get all the features that were available with version 5.0.2. The ENS driver in 6.0.2 is also significantly better than the one you currently have.
