SMTP PROBLEM AFTER UPGRADE

Postby marios » Sep 16 04 10:21 pm

After upgrading into ver 6.0.2 from version 5.2.3 i can't receive email from my isp.
We use outlook and the message we get is
"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.officegate.gr', Server: 'mail.officegate.gr', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

I have tried to activate SMTP server (till now it was deactivated) ,and while it seems that we can send, actually we can't.

Please let me know if there is a solution with that problem.
Thanks on advance for your help.

So how is the client connecting out through WinGate? Via NAT? Or does outlook connect to the SMTP proxy? Or Smtp server in WinGate? Im guessing from the error message that you are connecting via NAT. If this is the case, does your ISP require SMTP authentication? Also you could try establishing this connection with telnet to make sure that the line of communication is working. To do this open telnet and type:

open mail.officegate.gr 25

and you shoudl see the response:

220 NT-ESMTP Server mail.officegate.gr (IMail 8.0 MX1) X1

I have downloaded the 6.0.3 version, and then activated the SMTP proxy using as gateway my provider (mail.officegate.gr:25).
On each client i have change the SMTP server, into Outlook Account page, to the wingate (192.168.2.9), and everything seems to work fine till now...
