Opening multiple firewalled ports with WinGate

Postby DemonWasp » Sep 27 04 8:47 am

I'm looking to run games-type programs on a computer behind a proxy server. I did manage to get one particular game to work, but I'm having trouble with others. This is because these other programs appear to use DirectX for all their networking, which requires lots of ports to be open. Lacking the patience to open them one at a time, I'm wondering if there is some way to open around 100 or 200 of these ports with one simple stroke, or if there is some better solution for me to look for.

Microsoft Knowledgebase Site about DirectX:

Thanks in advance

Opening ports in WinGate is a matter of opening a range, so you can create 1 entry which has any number of consecutive ports in it.

Double click on Extended Network service. Switch to page "Port security". Click on the button "Add" and enter the data the dialog requests - port number 8080 to 8080, then click on "Relay to" radio button, enter the ip address of you client machine and tick "Do not translate source IP" checkbox.
