"Help/Check version" check failed...

Postby CKYHC » Oct 01 04 9:12 pm

Strange thing but when I try to check if I have latest version of Wingate installed it reports the following:

--cut--
You are not running the current version of WinGate

Thank you for choosing to use our products. Your system reports that you are running version 6656.26967.18286. However the current version is WinGate 6.0.3
--cut--
The URL is
http://www.wingate.com/updatecheck.cfm? ... 6967.18286
Yours truly,
Vladimir

Works for me, notice that editing the string at the end of the url is queried by the server and can be anything > http://www.wingate.com/updatecheck.cfm? ... INGATE.COM
so something must have been mashed up as the id was posted!

Someone at Qbik will illuminate further if necessary!

What kind of license do you have?

Maybe a pre-6.x license confuses it.

yeah, which build is actually in use?

You can see this in GateKeeper on the Help menu under "About GateKeeper"

purchased after trial monthly usage of WG 6.0.1.

Then configuration was saved (registry export), installed WG6.0.3.1005, license registered and this is it...

Maybe it someway interferes with trial (ended) WingateVPN license?..

It's not based on the license, it's actually retrieved from the WinGate Engine. The Engine sends the version number to GateKeeper, who uses it to contruct that URL. I tried it today with the build extracted from the installer and got the correct behavior (6.0.3)

If you right-click on the executables (WinGate.exe and GateKeeper.exe) and retrieve their properties - switch to the "Version" tab. Are both shown correctly, there? Perhaps a virus or something corrupted some of the data in the executable?

You can re-extract the files from the installer by running "wgsetup.exe /X"
