wigate mail by sattelite

Postby avatar1 » Nov 09 04 11:47 am

Can you help me with wingate 6 setup
I have to collect e-mail from a pop box on ihug server
I have to dial in by modem which i can see in the collection box all is well how the do i set it to download the mail via the sattelite card i can see no way to configure that (but sometimes im stupid)
I have to be able to dial xtra to establish connection then the sattelite establishes connection to ihug and hopefully pop s the mail from the domain server and hopefully delivers it to anothe server on the network
Any help
Regards

If you want to use a specific connection to retrieve your emails you will need to set the Gateways option in the SMTP server properties, as POP Collection is part of the SMTP service. Thus under the Gateway option set the Connection Scheme as 'Use specified conenctions in priority order' and just add the satilite connection (if this is the one you wish POP collection to use). The only proviso to this is that of course any bound email that is to be sent via WinGates SMTP server will also only use this connection.

As for setting up POP Collection there is a soon to be released document that details all aspects of the WinGate Mail server, which i can probably send to you if you wish?

Sorry about the delay, i'm still waiting for Adrien to give the document the all clear, but shouldn't be long now.

As for POP Collection, I tried it here with bulid 1005, and it did initiate the dialer correctly each time. Has anything else with your system changed? Such as policies etc? What happens if you try using the remote mail servers IP instead of the domain name, or vice versa?
