Wingate 5.2 and RAdmin

What settings do I need to enable a remote user using RAdmin to access my network through Wingate 5.2? Do I need a new proxy service or just adjust something in the current system or services areas?

Hi,

If you're talking about connecting in through the WinGate server to a machine behind the WinGate server then you'll need to create a port mapping in the WinGate firewall machine through to the machine that you want to connect to.

Likewise, if you want to connect just to the WinGate server you'll need to open the required port in the WinGate firewall, you just won't need to redirect it.

Have you tried version 6.0.4?

Thank you. I think we have it working correctly.

No, we haven't tried 6.0. I am not too technically proficient, and from what I have read, 6.0 requires a lot of setup decisions and fine tuning. 5.2 ran pretty much "as is" when we installed it - no configuring of e-mail servers, adapters, etc. So, I am reluctant to tackle something that requires a lot more knowledge of networks, ports, firewalls, proxies, mapping, etc.

6.x is not quite that bad.

It usually works straight out of the box, the only case is in some setups you need to ensure that it knows which adapter is for internet use and which is for the LAN. (Usually it detects those perfectly).

It's about on the same tech level as the 5.x series, depending on which features you plan on using. (Obviously if you are going into IP level bandwidth throttling, you need the knowledge, but as with most things WinGate - if you don't need it you don't have to use it or know how to use it).

It is a significant improvement on the 5.x series as well.
