WGIC change default settings

Postby faiser » Apr 22 05 3:53 am

I am about to deploy the wgic on about 40 desktops. We have a software deployment tool available for this job.
Is there any way to modify the installation (ie editing the msi or making a mst) in that the wgic will NOT launch the dialup monitor on startup for every user. We prefer to keep the client as invisible as possible - it's too bad the dialup monitor is switched on by default.
I found the location of the setting in the hkcu hive. Hence my question, since modifying that setting in the package would probably only change it for the service account used by the deployment software.

You should be able to - try using the hklm hive though, as the hkcu hive uses that as a template.

Thanks for that

fyi That didn't work, I tried with an mst and even directly by modifying the msi. The value that I want changed is in fact hkcu\software\qbik software\wingate lsp\settings\AutoLaunchWGDM. When this is changed in hklm (value 0), the one in hkcu still defaults to 1 after the next user logon.

No big deal I got it sorted with a line in the login script (reg add etc..)

Still for corporate use I think having the WGIC not launching the WGDM would be the better option.

Odd, WGIC is supposed to use HKLM as a template for each user login. However, for Corporate mode you do realise that you can use the "Central Configuration" feature to control that? You do need an Enterprise license though.
