Problems with proxy

We are using WinGate 6.0.4 running on a Windows 2000 server that is also a Domain Controller. We are only using WinGate as a proxy, mainly to restrict Internet usage for some users.

Now one of our users are having problems accessing a online shopping site. The site is using javascript and the problem is that often when we click to update the shopping cart we get the response "Server not found", if we click the browsers back button and try again we will eventually succeed after a few tries. We are using Internet Explorer on Windows 2000. I have tried purging the caching, rebuilding the index and disabling caching but none have helped. We installed WinGate about two weeks ago and it worked before that.

Whats the website where you are having the problem with? I can have a look tomorrow unless someone else sees this post and tests for you.

I will write to the support of the site and see if they have a test account that you can use.

I'm using Wingate 6.0.4 as a Proxy Server too. I visited the site http://www.tgskrivab.com and no problems found ???

You can try my proxy (for testing only):

Address : proxy.damnserver.com : 81

Or Socks : socks.damnserver.com : 1080

Today I found out that we are having problems with another website as well.
Same problem here, there is a button to save changes that is using javascript and when we click that button we get the internet explorer standard message for server not found.

I tried using proxy.damnserver.com : 81 and then it worked...

I will submit a support request ticket.

When I was submitting the support ticket the same problem happened on that page!
It was when pressing the Submit button on this page:
http://support.qbik.com/index.php?_a=tickets&_m=submit

I had to remove the proxy from my internet explorer settings to be able to post.

Hi Hans from dry, very dry inland Australia :-(

This is probably way off, but with one situation for me, any server submit actions always failed and I located the problem to be the xDSL MTU ISP <> CLIENT, when this was lowered to 1460? all started to work with out packet fragmentation in the network.

Probably though this will be of no use but I thought I would suggest as in the case above all general web surfing seemed ok as did POP3 whilst online form submission, posts and mainly SMTP failed totally.
