Wingate 6. - Windows XP Prof.

Postby Sunny Days » May 14 05 3:46 am

Hi,

I have windows xp prof. on a pc and loaded WGIC. On starting pc and seeking internet I notice that it is not routing through the pc with wingate (no icon appears).

When I enable client I still do not get it through wingate. Should I disable something that is conflicting on the network to ensure route through wingate?

Thanks
Sunny

Hi Sunny,

Are you able to set the default gateway to point at the WinGate server? This will force any client activity through the WinGate server.

Make sure that you don't have any software firewalls installed on the WinGate server and make sure that the network cards are configured correctly in the WinGate server's Network tab (in GateKeeper). The LAN card should be set to "internal" and the internet card should be "external". If you need to change these settings just double click the adapter to open a properties dialogue box.

On the client that has the WinGate Internet Client (WGIC) installed, can you open the WGIC applet and check the servers tab. Is the WinGate server listed there? If it isn't check your bindings on the WinGate server and make sure that any firewalls on the client machine are not blocking connections.

WinGate uses a broadcast to inform clients running the WGIC that there is a server available, so if you have a firewall on the client machine the broadcast may not be getting through.

Regards,

Matt
