Unable to send files

I was hoping someone could help me with a current problem I am running into at my office. We're running Wingate V. 5.2.2 and we are able to connect to the host computer and see all the folders. When we try to copy and paste a file into a folder, we receive an error message that says "the specified network name is no longer available". Once you click ok on the error message, the file will show up on the screen. If you try to open it however, you got an error message from the program stating "this file is not in a recognizable format". Do you think if I were to upgrade to the newest version, that this may solve the problem? Will there be conflict issues with the host if the client has a newer version? Any other ideas as to why this may be happening?

Are you referring to VPN connection?

I'm also getting an additional problem which now says "cannot copy path is too deep"
