Client EMail sending problem

Postby ekkas2 » Jul 18 05 10:07 pm

I've had to re-install Windows on my Wingate server, but now I can't send email from some machines/accounts and especially not from Wingate server. All worked before I re-installed. I do NOT use Wingate as a mail server, but have a Linux server on my LAN.

Must just be a setting. Should POP3/SMTP-proxy be enabled?

Thanks

If you want to pass through WinGate and not use the WinGate mail services at all you should probably stop the mail services. Did you enable the mail server when you installed?

Which version of WinGate are you running?

So basically you're just NATing through WinGate? What is the error message that you're getting in the mail clients?

Can you try sending a mail with telnet and see what happens?

Wingate 6.0.4

ERROR:
A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Subject 'Re: hello', Account: 'Sales', Server: '10.0.0.2', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

I do not know how to send an email with telnet.

Same account/settings work on another PC that's not the server

I've just set up Microsoft Outlook instead of outlook express and it works fine. Must get it to work with OE though....
