Problems with Terminal serv behind VPN

Postby SignatureProperties » Aug 04 05 4:49 am

Hello.

We have our VPN server behind our firewall, and two strange things happen, the first is that we can't connect to a terminal server that is behind the vpn server. The terminal server has it's gateway set to be the vpn server, and when a client connects, we can ping the terminal server(@ 23ms too), we can browse files on it, but it will simply not accept a Terminal services connection through the VPN... It works great inside our network.

I was under the impression that most all services would work fine...

Maybe I can get another tip in the right direction.

The second problem is that the vpn connection likes to drop it's clients at seemingly random times, but usually only less than a few mins in to the session.

Hi

we use TS across the VPN here at Qbik too. Sometimes the Terminal Server doesn't like to talk to us, and other times there is no problem. Can ping as well.

I always wondered whether it was something to do with user credentials.

Are you logging into a domain?

We are looking into the dropped connections as well, we have had some other customers report this (although we haven't seen it ourselves).

Regards

Any updates?

Since we do everything through Terminal services, this puts me dead in the water, and with a deadline coming fast.

Funny part is that the whole system worked well until I registered it, and no offense, but it hasn't worked correctly since.

We only access the one terminal server behind the VPN and I bought a license that allows for 6 servers on my network to be accessed, so I don't see why I would have this problem after purchasing...

I added a second nic to the server and put it outside our firewall, hoping it would help, but it actually mad matters worse. Now i get a "pre negotioation of acception failed" When I try and connect another computer that is not behind nat.

So basically, I'm almost non-functional at this point, and there are no routers or nat at either end.

Hi,

Just as a test can you go back to the trial license and see what happens? If you need us to extend your trial that's no problem, can you just send us the trial ID number? I can't see that the licensing would have any effect, but you say it was working fine before.

We're still looking into the dropping connection issue.
