NAT UDP Connection to VPN server does not work

Postby TheSkater » Aug 26 05 8:11 am

Hello,

following situation: Wingate server is installed on a destop PC with ISDN network card, my company notebook is connected via WLAN access point.
I want to connect to my company network using NCP VPN/PKI client software installed on my company notebook.

This confirmation only worked one time. I need support for debugging. Actually it does not work anymore.

When I start my VPN-Client connection through LAN over IP (Router) I can see its request
Code: Select all
"Sending Request to DVE Server <VPN-Server-IP>:<Port>"

DVE means Dynamic VPN Endpoint.

On my gatekeeper screen on my wingate server following lines are displayed:
Code: Select all
NAT: UDP <Local-ip>:<port>  <---> <VPN-Server-IP>:<Port>

But the connection will not be made. Which logfile does give more hints? Where can I get more support.

Did you see any firewall hits originated from your server IP address?

Sorry, I had to ask this question from the beginning - what knd of VPN protocol does your client use? Wingate does support PPTP and IPSEC NAT-T based VPNs only.

1. Go to the extended networking configuration inside GateKeeper, and turn on all logging options
2. Create your VPN connection
3. Look at the info in the log file: C:\Program Files\WinGate\Logs\WinGate NAT

On my desktop pc where wingate is runnig also PC Cilin is installed as virus protection and firewall. Normally this firewall asks for new outgoing and incoming connections. Whe I deactivate it my VPN connection works.

Are there any specific setting for local firewalls when wingate will be used?

No, but we usually recommend disabling other firewalls and use only WinGate’s one. Obviously if you have a problem with your VPN connection via Wingates firewall, that would be an exception to that rule.

Anyone else have some comments on this?
