Offsite connection with laptops

Postby Cliff Dungey » Sep 01 05 1:23 pm

Hi All,
I have a quick question in regards to offsite users:
I had two offsite users with there own laptop, connected via a motel wireless connection. Each user had a ip address assigned via DHCP from the motel, each user had the same gateway address.

Only the first user connected, had complete VPN access, the second user was not able to browse the remote network.

Please help.

Can this user ping the server?

yes, the two users can ping the server and each other, but only the first connected user can browse.

And just to let you know I did install the new driver and the two users are winXP pro.

What if only one user is connected (the second one)? I wonder if it is the case of Windows security in action...

I thought that also, but it's ok if the user is not behing the same gateway, the two users do have access.

A! Have you installed the new driver on the server side?

Hi, Cliff

For testing purpose can you, please, try changing the default VPN port on one of the clients (VPN/General page)? I have a suspicion that it might be a router issue.

Port has been changed and is open on the router, everything works great until I have the two or more VPN connections at the same time and the same location.

Aye, that's what I mean - try changing the default port on the client VPN settings - it's in VPN properties dialog, page General - just to froce one of the clients to use different source port for VPN traffic.

Ok,
Will give it a try in the next day or so as I'm not at the location now and get back to you...

Thanks.

Hi Genie
All is well....
I changed local participation on the server to Local Machine Only and that resolved the issue.

I hate the learning curve...

Thanks.
