Mail Server Running on WG 6.0.4 Machine

Postby MichaelW » Sep 12 05 9:44 pm

Hi

I have installed WG 6.0.4 and subsequently am having a problem with internal clients attempting to connect to the mail server (MDaemon) which is running on the same box. I have disabled the POP3 and SMTP services in WG and have enabled ports 25 and 110 through ENS. I have attempted to redirect traffic coming in to port 110 to ip address 192.168.0.2 or 127.0.0.1 (same machine) to no avail. The OE clients state "USER: pop Handover to POP3 Server" and they don't connect. I have read the Mail Server 6 Scenarios and Configuration document but it contains no specific information pertaining to my scenario.

Please could you advise. Thank you.

Hi Michael

Did you get my emails about this?

check the POP3 proxy isn't running. If you were upgrading a previous install of WinGate, and chose not to use WinGate mail, then it may still install the POP3 proxy (on the services tab) on port 110, which would conflict with MDaemon.

Hi Adrien

You were correct - I ommitted to observe the POP3 service that added itself during the upgrade process. Somewhat unobservant on my part and thank you for your help!
