Move Wingate from Windows NT 4 to Windows XP Pro

Postby waynep » Oct 25 05 7:20 am

Need to move Wingate from Windows NT machine that will not boot to a new Windows XP Pro machine. Failed to do a backup of Wingate registry. Is there a way to move all configurations from old to new machine? Can I install Wingate to new machine and then copy folder from old machine to new? Or move Wingate folder from old to new and then re-install Wingate on top of that?
Thanks,

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

All of the WinGate settings are stored in the registry file, so you need to get that somehow. Do you have access to the registry? If so you can just export the WinGate registry file and copy that over. Otherwise there's not a lot you can do unfortunately.

I have had some success with WinInternals rescue software.

It boots off a cd into a special OS that can read your disk (even NTFS) and allow you to copy things off it.

Go to www.winternals.com look for ERD commander.

Cheers
