best way to update to Wingate v6.1 and Kaperski v2?

Postby xwray » Nov 03 05 6:24 am

I am running the latest versions of both programs before their current releases. Can I just install over the current programs or must I first remove the older versions? If I have to remove the older versions, can I load my current registry into the new version once installed so I will retain my current settings?

thanks

Hi

You should be able to just install the new versions of WinGate and the plugins straight over the top of your older version.

You will need to install WinGate first, as the new plugins won't install unless WinGate 6.1 is present on your system.

All your settings should be migrated as well.

It would also be a good idea to back up your registry before installing, we recommend registry back ups before you make any major changes to WinGate. You can read a knowlege base article on backing up the registry here

Well, the KAV license can't be reactivated because it says your (perfectly good) license has already been installed on another computer. Now I am hanging in the wind without AV protection until "sales@wingate.com" does whatever they need to do to make it work...
