DNS Lookup does not connect to the internet

Postby pr0tag0nist » Nov 14 05 5:58 am

hello
i use wingate 5and i used to have wingate working quite well on my server,
but i recently got a new server and now all the (programms like warcraft or teamspeak) cant connect to the internet anymore.
In the history wingate recognizes the DNS lookup (DNS Lookup "europe.battle.net).
I cannot remember that i changed any setting from default in the server version of wingate when i got it to work some month ago and it cant be any setting on the client computers because i didnt change anything from the point it worked either ...
in my frustration i disabled already every firewall, but it didnt work either

i hope you can help me

thnx

Maybe it helps if you configure your DNS Resolver configuration..
Did you add your ISPs DNS servers?

1. If you cannot ping Goolges domain name, but can ping its ip address; then that will be a DNS issue.
(Windows) Start menu --> Run --> cmd --> ping www.google.com
(Windows) Start menu --> Run --> cmd --> ping 66.102.7.104

2. When you are playing computer games, you will want to be set up for the NAT connection method (as well) A knowledge base article for Troubleshooting a NAT connection is available from here (Internal / Exteranl .. Was ENS installed .. IP Address config)
http://support.qbik.com/index.php?_a=kn ... ils&_i=123

3. If you are still having issues, can we see an ipconfig/all from the WinGate box, and a client machine? Please mask any part of public IP addresses.
(Windows) Start menu --> Run --> cmd --> ipconfig/all

4. If you have the Realtek 8029 network card, then you will need to check an option in (Windows) Start menu --> Programs --> WinGate --> Advanced Options --> Hardware Specific

5. You may also want to check that the Windows Firewall / ICS is turned off the in Windows Services

Please let us know how you get on.

Ok

It works now!

but i kinda start to believe in a house ghoast
this is what happend:
when i changed the configuration for the NAT as u showed me, the ens driver just crashed without letting me know. i was lucky that i saw it this soon. reinstalling the ens driver didnt work, deinstalling the wingate program didnt work either. So it had to be delete the folder :-/

and when i reinstalled wingate it all worked as its supoosed to do.

thnx for ur help
