Wingate 5.2.3 with Active Directory

Postby slong » Sep 06 05 8:03 pm

Hi,

Currently we are migrating our domain from NT4 to Active Directory and need to change that on our Wingate 5.2.3 as well, problem is we are just part of a global enterprise Active Directory and I want Wingate to only synchronize the user database from the local OU. Is there any way to do that? I have tested changing the Domainserver in the registry to our local Active Directory PDC and Wingate takes a long time to start up and I can only find a few local user/group names in the list. Anybody have any idea? Tx!

Hi there

This is possible if you want to synchronise users with a local domain controller (i.e that is local to the domain where you OU is located, which in your case would probably be the old PDC).

You could read our knowlege base article on this here

http://support.qbik.com/index.php?_a=kn ... ails&_i=91

The WinGate engine service should be logged into the Active Directory as explained in the article so that it will synchronise properly.

Hope this helps

Hi Erwin,

I have actually tried using the instructions provided by specifying the local domain server in the registry and changing the service logon to the AD administrator id, still the same issue. Seems like it will display all the entire domain list and I can only find a few that is from the local OU. Is there anyway to specify in the registry down to the local OU? Tx!

Hi there

Unfortunately there is no way to base it on OU as this a user defined component (much like a group or user) in the AD and WinGate can only be set to retrieve OS user databases rather then by OU.

Hi,

I am still unable to completely sync my AD user database with Wingate. As our Master Domain Controller (DC) is located in another country, I have set Wingate to sync with our local DC, it seems that Wingate has an issue synchronising the thousands of Users and Groups in our entire AD domain. As mentioned earlier, I can only see some of the AD list in the Wingate user database. Is there any solution to this or has anyone encountered this before. Now we are still retaining the Trust to our old NT4 solely for the Wingate service and is hoping to resolve this ASAP. Anyone has any idea?? Tx!
