NAT issue (I think)

Postby darthgus » Feb 21 06 1:03 pm

Hi There

Just trying to get Wingate up and functional, and I think I have it all functional except 1 thing. Ill explain the setup first.

NIC 1 - 192.168.0.10 - with a default gateway 192.168.0.150 (This is to the internet) - Is set as external.

NIC 2 (Wireless) - 192.168.1.1 - Set as internal.

I have set the laptop to obtain address automatically, and it gets an address fine (192.168.1.2).
DNS is functioning fine, can resolve anything.
If I set a proxy in IE, I can get up webpages.

What isnt working (I Think) is the NAT translation - If i dont have the proxy set I cant get webpages to show - Have tried pings and tracert's but I can get nothing through.

I have tried setting a default gateway also on the laptop to 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.150, also blank - No difference.

Anyone with any ideas??

That all looks okay and sounds right. We might need to pull Genie in on this one with his knowledge of the driver internals.

Have you made any changes to the NAT setup?
What types of adapters do you have in the machine? (Any Realtek 8029 cards)

I couldnt find where any of the NAT settings were - so no I have not been into that section.

The Adapters are;
NIC 1 - Intel Pro/1000 CT (On Board)
NIC 2 - USB Orinoco Wireless Adapter (802.11b)

NAT setup is under ENS (Extended Networking Services) where you configure the firewall, redirections and so forth.

Is it possible for you to post/email a route table to us, please? You can get that by running "route print" from the command line. Using standard command prompt copy/paste (Mark, enter, etc.) makes it easy to extract that info.

I think I have solved it -

When I installed I did not select the ENS - from the description it was only a firewall - Didnt mention that with that not installed that NAT wouldnt function...

Reinstalled with that and everything seems to be working sweet!

Thanks agian
