Windows XP x64 seems to cause Wingate VPN to fail

Postby PCT » Apr 08 06 1:45 am

I have upgraded my client computer (VPN 6.11 build 1077, according to the about panel) to windows xp pro x64.

My previously running VPN now will not start. I have an error message telling me that ENS is not running. I cannot import my server config file - or rather, I can import it, but it does not "stick". Although I can still contact the target host with telnet port 809, Wingate does neither connect nor complain. It just sits quietly idle.

Is this a 64 bit problem, or have I done something wrong?

Wingate driver, which provides VPN functionality, is a 32-bit driver and as such it wouldn't run in 64-bit environment.

Thank you. Do you intend to make a 64 bit driver, if so, when?
Secondly, it would probably be a good idea to publish the limitation in your documentation.

Yes, the next version will have 64-bit support (subject to whatever limitations Microsoft comes up with).
