Bandwidth logging by IP

Postby ekkas2 » Apr 20 06 9:40 am

Is there ANY way that I can retrieve the bandwidth used per IP. We do not use usernames & authentication but all clients have static IPs. I can write a prog to parse log files, etc. so if there is any way to extract the bandwidth usage, please tell me, I REALLY need it urgent...

Thanks

you want bandwidth, or absolute traffic count?

Bandwidth is a constantly changing thing, we don't currently show it per IP, just per interface (performance tab on the adapters). It's not logged.

Traffic however is logged.

adrien, so is it (traffic) logged somewhere else, or is it safe to regularly parse(+delete records from) the history.dbf file ?

Thanks

traffic per session is logged if you turn that on (it's logged as part of session termination).

There are actually a couple of products out there already that will give you reports of traffic used. ReportMagic for WinGate is one that seems quite popular, but there are others as well like Sawmill, ProxyInspector etc.

So I assume that I have to parse each service's log files (after turning it on for each service)

So in the sample line below, what is the 4 numbers? which is up/down and what is the other 2 for.. (Or if you can point me to a link on log-file formats?)

01/03/06 23:51:29 10.1.2.25 Guest 0000030853 Traffic 2443 888 732 2404 3s

Thanks
