Antivirus on the Wingate server

Postby jonifresh » May 13 06 1:14 am

HI peeps

I'm just after a bit of advise really before going ahead with the installation of Wingate, for a small business. If I purchase the KAV plugin and have this running on the main Wingate server, effectively this should provide antivirus coverage for the wingate client's (right)

I'm thinking in terms of speed on the client computers. Without antivirus software installed on the client PC's, this would be great for overhall system performance.

Would anyone recomend doing this or is it still worth having some sort of antivirus protection on tehm.

Hi

Kaspersky AV on the gateway should catch email-borne viruses, or viruses downloaded from the web. However most security experts would still recommend running AV software on your clients, there's always a chance someone could bring an infected laptop into your LAN, or that some infected file could enter your network some other way.

Yes indeed.

Thanks for you time, I think i will install a free AVirus like Grisoft AVG to protect the likes of virus's spreading from floppy / rom etc.
