Automatically Change WinGate Server When One Crashes?

Postby gory » May 19 06 3:59 pm

I'm contemplating purchasing another WinGate license, but I have a question first. If one WinGate box were to crash/freeze/BSOD, is there a way for the WinGate clients to automatically switch to another WinGate box for Internet access?

Thanks,

Hi

If you're using the WinGate client, then that is able to automatically fail over to an alternate server.

And, what if you don't use WinGate client? Is there another way?

As well, how well does WinGate client work with Terminal Server?

Thanks,

If you don't use the WinGate client, you'd need something that sits between the WinGate servers and your network and can recognise when the gateway goes down and switch to backup. Some routers can do this.

We did a fair bit of testing with the client on Terminal Server. The main benefit there is you get authentication per user handled by the client.
