Postby sy1971 » May 30 06 12:53 am

I am in a DHCP networking enviroment and wingate proxy server using Java autheticating, recently there is a mobile user complaining that when Java Logon applet prompt, the default user name somehow become another user who never use his laptop?
Is there anyone know how Java logon applet capture the default user name?

Hi

When the Java client is served to the client machine by WinGate, we can set some default parameters.

We do set a hint at the user name. It's based on the current assumed username for that IP address I think.

hi,
Is that mean even though we did not set any assumed user in the wingate, the wingate itself will somehow "cache" the assumed user for all the ip address which connected to it?

Hi

I just had another look at the code.

By default WinGate will set the username hint to the current username associated with the connection that caused the Java client to be served.

Normally for unauthenticated access, this would be the guest account. But it can be another account if

a. the user has any other sort of authenticated session open on the server (i.e. mail check), or has recently authenticated from that IP as a certain user (within 20s).

b. there is an assumed user by IP or machine name.
