Wingate 6.1.2 & Mdaemon 8.1.4 on the gateway!

Postby Deju » Jun 07 06 10:27 pm

Hi!

Need your help urgently! Situation: W2K3 Server Ent. SP1 + patches with Wingate 6.1.2 Ent. +Mdaemon 8.1.4. In WG i stopped and disabled all mail servises (POP Server, SMTP Server, POP3 Proxy). ENS (NAT) enabled! Users are using NAT+ Proxy for Internet and applications. After instatlling Mdaemon 8.1.4 setting up users e-mail clients for using Mdaemon. Create users in mail servers. Internal e-mail works good. And SMTP - out from Mdaemon to Internet works good. But I can't recieve e-mail by SMTP- in (no any sessions!!!!) and I can't connect to port 25 by telnet!!! In firewall I make rule: Internet connections to Wingate PC TCP port 25 to 25 allow. Can you tell a stupid admin what I did wrong????
Or may tell right steps in this scenario.

Thank you!

Hi

Sounds like the firewall is still blocking. Do you see hits in the firewall tab in WinGate?

by your description you've done the right thing - enable port 25-25 for "Incoming connections from the Internet" for TCP, action allow, don't override any ports etc.

When you test with telnet, is that from behind (through) WinGate?

If you don't get any firewall hits, check for the smtp service in 2003 server (it's on by default I think).

Other than that, check that Mdaemon is bound to your external adapter as well.

adrien

Thanks! Evething seems begin to work, strange situation!!!!!????? I just enable "guest" .Do I need to enable account "Guest" for incoming connections to port 25 of Mdaemon on the same machine, I disable it and Policies in NAT use only for group "Users" (without Guest)??

P.S It will be good, you include "Scenario 5" in Wingate 6 Mail Document,
when WG amd 3-d party Mail-server on the same machine.
