Can't get IP

Postby miracle84 » Jun 09 06 1:19 am

Hi all. I am new to this wingate. My friend recomended me this software to bind 2 connections (I have 1 DSL with 512 and 1 cable with 2048). I installed the software as a Server, and activated for a trial period. When I restarted my pc I saw that my 3COM and CNET adapters doesn't get any ip(I mean no ip not 169.xx.xx.xx thing) These places are all empty. When I manually enter ip it doesnt work either. I click the repair button but it says 'Failed to query TCP IP settings of the connection. cannot proceed.'

PS: I have 2 CNET NIC and 1 3COM NIC (onboard with asus p4c800)

I hope this problem have a small solution so that I can start using my internet again.

Cannot think of an instant solution based off the details given.

1. Is your DSL modem a dedicated piece of hardware?

2. When I restarted my pc I saw that my 3COM and CNET adapters doesn't get any ip(I mean no ip not 169.xx.xx.xx thing)
--> Can you please show us the output of an ipconfig/all

3. What other Security / Networking suites do you have installed on your computer? Is the Windows Firewall turned off in the Windows Services?
Control Panel --> Admin Tools --> Services.

4. Do you see any firewall hits?
GateKeeper --> View menu --> Firewall

5. Is there another DHCP server on your LAN?

Extra information:

a) Your DSL and Cable connections should be marked as EXTERNAL in WinGate.
Your Network card pointing towards the LAN should be marked as INTERNAL in WinGate.

The location to check those settings is found via:
GateKeeper --> View menu --> Networks, at the bottom of the screen is the "Network Connections" area, and the fourth column will show if the adapter is Internal or External; double click an adapter to change it.
