Group, Banlist and filter

Postby giuliano » Jun 09 06 7:35 pm

Hi,
I'd like to let UserA, UserB view sites Site1,Site2 while other users can't view them.
All users can't access to some sites (SiteNO1, SiteNO2, ... SiteNON).
I did this:
- I create a group with UserA, UserB (Group1)
- I create a rule for Group1 (user assumed) : Advanced --> Specify which requests user has rights for --> Server name contains Site1, Site2
- I create a rule for Everyone (UserA, UserB are also in everyone) and I have inserted SiteNO1, SiteNO2, ... SiteNON in the banlist.

This doesn't work :( UserA,UserB can't access to Site1, Site2
If I create a rule for both UserA, UserB like I did for Group1 it works ... but I'd like to use a group (it's more efficient if I have to remove or add users to the group).

What's wrong with my group approach ?

(I'm using Wingate 6.1.1 build 1077)

Try creating your group (user A & B) rule for allowed (white list) sites to be as follows;
Advanced --> Specify which requests user has rights for -->
Server name contains Site1
Server name contains Site2
Server name contains Site3

in other words, create a separate filter and criterion for each white list site.

Then in Everyone add those white listed sites to the ban list as well as all the other sites you don't want users to go to.

That should do the trick.
