WWW Proxy Server Not Working on Small Business Server 2003 P

Postby dbfer91 » Jun 30 06 4:00 pm

I just installed Wingate on a SBS 2003, because I'm using Exchange Server I have disables the following services :

SYSTEM TAB
--------------
POP3 Server
SMTP Server
IMAP4 Server
DNS Service
DHCP Service

SERVICES TAB
-----------------
POP3 Proxy Server

The problem is that I can not get the WWW Proxy Server to start, I already check the bindings and every seems to be OK.

I want the users on the network to go through Wingate to limite bandwidth, restricted sites. etc. I don't like ISA server which comes bundled in the SBS 2003 Premium.

Any help would be apreciated,

If you cannot start WWW service, then, most probably, you have another application using port 80 - like another proxy or a web server.

You can change WWW proxy port to any other port which is not taken - just make sure the clients are configured properly.

You can have the WWW proxy running on another port say 8080, but still intercepting connections on port 80.

The intercepted connections are only those that would be going "through" WinGate, not "to" it. So connections to your web server (intranet) on that machine would not be interfered with.
