Stop users logging in with Guest account

Postby lenhi » Jul 13 06 8:58 pm

I have Wingate up and running and require my users to login via the Java client. By default the GUEST account is displayed in the login box. At present, the Guest account has no password associated with it. I do not wish users to be able to use the guest account.

I was going to disable the Guest account but was prompted that this cause DNS to fail. Therefore, what is the easiest way to stop users using the GUEST account for the WWW service?

Thanks,
Len

As an example:

You have one Everyone Group in the WWW Proxy Service:
"User must be authenticated",
Default Rights = Are ignorned.

In the Advanced tab of the Everyone policy:
Filter 1.
This criterion is NOT met if Username equals Guest

Then you could add a second policy into the WWW Proxy Service for the user guest; may be unknown. This policy will allow WinGate to serve webpages without authentication. (in the Server Request option of the WWW Proxy)

Filter 1.
This Criterion is met If non-proxy request Is True.

*I may have to test that in the lab tomorrow; the guest needs the java applet from the WWW Proxy, and since I have been testing from localhost address (the wingate machine), the result may not be reliable
