No access to specific site

Postby Bigbully » Jul 28 06 2:25 am

Hi,

I have a curious problem...
We're running Wingate 6.1.4 on a Standard W2003 server with SP1. It's integrated in a Active Directory. We not using the DNS, Pop3, Smtp and Imap4 options on the Wingate Server.
We have created 3 groups:
- A group with all access to sites
- A group with a ban list on speficic words
- A group with access to specific sites

Here comes the problem: I'm in the group with all access but I'm not able to open a specific site. All other sites (only the sites I use, I haven't checked all sites of course) are working fine. But this specific site is blocked. I get the message: The page cannot be found. I checked the site at home; it's working fine sot it's not a problem with that webserver. As far as I can see it is trying to open a .asp page. But surely that can't be the problem or can it?

I hope someone can help me!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Hans,

? Is the site which is NOT available listed in any of the other group's block list at all.

? Jot down the absolute path here [if you can] so others' can look / see where the fault maybe.

From the little I know about filtering, Wingate will reply "Access Denied" for a filter hit so it maybe another factor.

Report back and someone will take it further.

Hi Nev,

Thanks for your quick reply. The site isn't listed in any of block lists. As mentioned we have 3 groups. The one with access to specific sites contains a filter having set a criteria containing the name of the site. That's all. The exact adres of the site is http://www.ola.nl
Again, thanks in advance.

Ok Hans,

Had a look at that site and created a WWW rule for just that one which seemed to work:

Hope this helps!

Hi Nev,

Thanks but this wasn't the solution. I allready had that rule. And even when I try to look at the site using my own name (no rules and no ban lists, all access) I still get an error. Just shoot me.... I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Hi Hans

If the browser is complaining that the site can't be found, it could be a DNS error of some sort.

Are you using a different ISP from home? It's possible that the name lookup is failing due to some error with your ISP's DNS server or an upstream one.

Regards

Hi Hans,

Hmm that's no good, can you browse all the site from the Wingate server with the browser pointing to the connection / internet and not the localhost / Wingate proxy?
