I have an entry in the Port Security section of Wingate for Port 808 with a description of "Hole for Remote Control Service (Auto)". Is this a default port assignment ??? I do not remember having defined such setting.
Its properties window is different from the other port settings I have.

Yes, this is a default setting. Port 808 is for WinGate authentication. GateKeeper uses it and I think the WinGate client also.
It should be open only on the internal side of things.
