Host Name resolution issues

Postby jane » Dec 20 06 12:00 am

I have recently taken over the IT function and am not that up to date with wingate.

My issue is that wingate is not resolving the host name from the ip address, thus authentication is a problem, when logging onto the net we can put in user name and password and no problem.

However when trying to retrieve email it does not recognise the ip address and keeps returning a pop3 error.

I would appreciate any help available.

thanks

If you are assuming users by their computer name for authentication then WinGate should be the DHCP Server for the network. Otherwise you would need to use "Assumed by ip address".

*You would also need to create your policies with an authentication level of "User may be assumed"

Thanks a million, our assumed users where set up and we had created policies for them.

So i just deleted them all and re added them and all seemed fine.

again thank you for the help.
