Remote users accessing SMTP

Postby z80jim » Jan 03 07 5:10 am

I am running Wingate 6.1.4 ( Build 1099 ) and am using the Wingate user database. Can I allow remote users to authenticate and send email though Wingate's SMTP server without turning on "untrusted sender" in the Email panel? If so please explain how.

Hi

In WinGate 6.1.4 (it changed a bit in 6.2.0), a user becomes trusted once they have authenticated with SMTP AUTH.

So just configure your external clients to use AUTH when connecting and they then become trusted.

Adrien,

For an Outlook client is that the "Log On Using SPA" setting or maybe the "My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication" setting?

Thanks,
Jim
