WGIC Question

I use only proxy setting s on the clients, not wgic, at least that is what I have intended. But I know of at least one client machine here that still has WGIC installed. I have seen a couple places like log or history where wingate seems to think this user is "administrator" which he shouldn't be. So I have a couple questions:

1: is there a way I can disable the WGIC from even functioning from the server?
2: Is a fix for this administrator problem, or will it be fixed when I do this upgrade you said you expect to release this week? (do you still expect this week?)

You can simply uninstall the WGIC on the client machine and this should solve your problem.

Alternatively you can use an assumption by IP address and specify that the assumed user is not a member of the administrator's group, however removing the WGIC would be your best option I think.

i should have been more clear, i am using an assimption that that user is other than administrator, so i don't know why it is deciding he is administrator. also, the real point of my question is, if this user is getting more access than he should because he has the wgic installed, then others may be getting by the same way, also without my knowledge.

so, since i don't intentionally have anyone using the client, if i could just make it useless from the server side then i don't have to worry if anyone else has it installed...

If you want to stop users from connecting through WGIC at server, the simplest solution might be to disable Winsock Redirector Service. In GateKeeper, System Tab right click Winsock Redirector Service and Stop the service. Then go into properties for WRS and disable service from starting again by selecting under Start options, Service startup: Service is disabled

I have another method to restrict access of admin rights to wingate server
just keep the local ip only (127.0.0.1) in the bindings list in the (Remote Control Service)

the method above will not allow any admin access accept from the server it self
it is not prefered if you authinicate users!!!
