Command line utilities

Postby graemeevans » Mar 22 07 10:31 pm

Are there any command line utilities for manipulating Wingate settings? We are looking to get the password of a user automatically changed at regular intervals. If there are not any would it be possible to get one created? If not then can I have the source code for the section of encrypting the password so I can make my own?

Thanks

hi Graeme

I think you can set the user password from the telnet-style login if you enable the command shell in the telnet proxy.

However, since WinGate supports using the OS user database, and windows user database supports expiry of passwords, have you thought about using the windows user database?

Hi

Thanks for the reply, I have investigated the Telnet logon and found that I cannot set the password here. I haven't yet looked to using the Windows user database. With this set will it use the local windows database? or Active Directory. I would prefer not to have 1000's of users in my Wingate user database, however could cope with the 5 or so local.
