Wingate WinXP Prof ENS Problem

Postby servermax » Apr 15 07 5:03 am

Hello.

i use wingate 6.2.1.

wingate works under win2000.

now i have changed to win xp prof.

and nothing works.

i have 2 network adapters, one for the dsl connection and one to my switch for the local network.

if i install wingate without ens driver, my ip adress from both network adapters and my dsl dial i works.
but the routing function will not work on wingate

if i install wingate with ens driver, my ip adress from both adapters ist 127.0.0.1 and my dsl dial in doesn't work

is there a trick to install the ens driver under win xp prof?

thanks for your help and sorry about my bad english
german is better ;)

1. Can't say I have ever heard that the ENS driver can set the ip addresses on the network cards as 127.0.0.1? i.e. that does not sound correct.

2. On Windows XP Pro SP2, it is a good idea to disable the Windows Firewall in the Windows Services. You should also disable any other security or networking suites for the sake of testing if you deem it safe.

3. Confirm your network cards are correctly marked as INTERNAL / EXTERNAL. The network card pointing towards the internet is generally marked as EXTERNAL, and the network card pointing towards the LAN is generally marked as INTERNAL in WinGate.
GateKeeper --> View menu --> Networks --> Network Connections.

4. Make sure any default gateways or dns servers are only set on the network card that has access to those networks.

If you still need assistance, can you post an ipconfig/all when the ENS is installed?
(Windows) Start menu --> Run --> cmd --> ipconfig/all > c:\ipa.txt

Hi

Are you running any other firewall software on that computer?

That can sometimes interfere with network adapter initialisation.

hello

here is my configuration.

Network Card 1:
D-Link DFE-530TX PCI Fast Ethernet
TCP/IP Automatic
DNS Automatic

This is connected to my dsl modem(not a router)

Network Card 2:
Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC
TCP/IP 192.168.100.1
Gateway 255.255.255.0
DNS blank

This is connected to my switch for the other pc's

WAN Miniport Connection
i connect over a PPPoe Connection to the Internet
TCP/IP Automatic
DNS Automatic

I use Kasperkey Internet Security 6.0

Windows Firewall is off.

If i install wingate with ENS

i have only the MAC Address and no TCP/IP Address on each Network Adapter.

The PPPoE Dial in doesn't work

by installing wingate, the setup show me this message:

The WinGate installer has detected an installation of Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on this computer.  WinGate may not operate correctly if ICS is used.  Please ensure that if you are installing WinGate ENS, you disable ICS.

After installing and reboot.

the ipconfig /all gives no results nothing!!

I believe this problem may be caused by Kasperkey Internet Security 6.0. I have seen reports of similar conflicts between Kaspersky and WinGate VPN (which relies on the ENS driver).

Are you able to uninstall Kaspersky to see if this helps your situation?

we have been in discussion with Kaspersky Labs about this, and they have worked out the problem. They say it will be fixed in the next version of KIS (7.0).
