Wingate MDaemon Worldclient

Internet -- Netgear Router--- Wingate --- LAN including MD server


I'm trying to get WorldClient for AltN Mail Daemon running from behind a Wingate 6.2.1 machine. The wingate machine has 2 NICs with different IPs etc. I want allow users to access the Worldclient interface from the web but have everything else protected by the Wingate Machine.
The MD server currently has SMTP delivery from the Wingate machine which pops an external account. The current internal address to access the Worldclient is "h t t p : //192.168.X.XXX:3000" No alteration of this format will access it ie by leaving out the http or the :3000 will not provide a user with the login. This appears to be AltN's way not mine.

I want a user to be able to type in a web address and access Worldclient from a external computer on the web.

I would appreciate any help on this issue.

So you want to create a port mapping through WinGate to the MDaemon server on port 3000?

That should be pretty straightforward. Go to Extended Networking, choose Port Security and ADD a new rule. Set it for connections from the Internet on TCP and UPD port 3000 and under ACTION choose REDIRECT PACKET TO IP ADDRESS and enter the IP address of the MDaemon server. You should also check DON'T TRANSLATE SOURCE IP.

Now you'll need to open port 3000 on the router and send it to the WinGate server.

If you do not have anything Bound to port 80 (HTTP Port) on your network card pointing towards the internet on the WinGate Server then you should be able to change the port number when redirecting through WinGate.


For example:

At the moment when one of your colleagues is at a remote location they access the webmail by navigating to http://www.tommymorton.com:3000

Instead you could use the HTTP port and redirect to 3000 via WinGate. So your colleague in the remote location just needs to enter http://www.tommymorton.com

i.e.
LAN Server with Mdaemon: 192.168.1.2



**Please note:

1. In the red box in image: "Connections from the internet" can also be translated to "Connection to an EXTERNAL adapter". i.e. If your network card pointing towards the internet is marked as INTERNAL in WinGate then you would use the "Local Computer to WinGate PC" option shown in the image.

2. You can check how your network adapters are marked in WinGate via:
GateKeeper --> View menu --> Networks --> Network Connections (Bottom Centre).


***Acknowledgement – I would expect MDaemons WebMail feature can use any port; i.e. my example should work.

I have tried this set up but still no response. The page will not open.
The wingate machine shows a NAT connection being established but nothing opens on the browser. When I connect using a vpn I can get WorldClient up. It still won't open just browsing to the site externally.
I have tried both the 3000 set up and the 80 option to no avail. Any ideas?

try unselecting the option "don't translate source Ip".

If there is any security on the MDAemon server, or it doesn't use the WinGate machine as it's default gateway, this could prevent it from working.

With the option disabled, all connections to the MDaemon server will appear to be from the WinGate machine's internal IP address.

The not translating the IP seemed to do the trick.
