WG Goes Away

Postby rboynton » Jun 19 07 10:14 am

I'm evaluating the WG product, so quite new to things. On a number of occasions, I have made a change to a setting (i.e. user policy) and the program closed with no errors. One time, I actually saw a dialog box pop up saying "out of memory". I am running on a fast XP Pro box with a gig of RAM and large hard drive. Max RAM use so far peaked at 300k, but it is using closer to 200k consistently. I'm thinking it may be low on buffers or something else.

Hi

When you say the program closed, do you mean the GUI disappeared?

How much memory is WinGate itself using?

Hi Adrien,

I've had a number of strange problems since installing WG on my proxy system. I decided yesterday to whack the box and put it back to XP SP1, which I've now done. WG has not missed a lick since, so let's see how it goes. I really did not want to do that, since SP2 seems to run so much better. A good running proxy is crucial to my operation, so it was worth it... if it is stable now. Thanks for all your help. I'll follow up on my various posts if things do not run better.
