Add TCP port

Postby farhan » Aug 07 07 11:40 pm

Hi all

I'm using wingate 4.2.0, some my clients need to use a windows application which need to open TCP port 6789 on wingate server.

I have read some forums and material, all are saying to use ENS, but here in this version I have not seen ENS any where... How can I do this in this version ??

Your replies on forum or on my email address direclty will be highly appreciated.

*4.2.0 was before my time, but I presume my understanding of WinGate is still relevant - if any forum users want to critique this to get a better solution for Farhan then please advise.

1. Backup your WinGate registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate

Either:

a) Reinstall 4.2.0 with the ENS option - you should not need to change anything else in the installer.

b) Download and use 6.2.2 of WinGate - 4.2.0 is 6 and a half years old now. Your license will still work with the latest version of WinGate - its a way to get 6 years of maintenance to the original features you bought with your license.

c) Use a TCP Mapping in 4.2.0?

Thanks Jamesc!

In 4.2.0 there is no option asking when installing about to install ENS, whether I have downloaded and installed ENS with version 5.0 but I have not achieved my target.

Actually some of my client pcs are using an stock exchange related windows application, which is accesing port 6789. I have given this in ENS and allowed TCP. but application doesn't connect with server nor sending any request to Wingate server, whether browsing and socks running fine.

I wanna know HOW CAN I ALLOW TCP PORT 6789 in wingate server.
and Second question is is there any client application for Wingate, like ISA.??

Your earliest reply will be highly appreciated.

The best option for you is to upgrade to 6.2.2 - and you should not need to open any ports if is an outbound connection. Then review the following knowledge base article:
http://support.qbik.com/index.php?_a=kn ... ils&_i=147

The client application is in the main installer of 4.2.0.

If you still need assistance with 4.2.0 then I will leave it for another forum user to answer.
