how to improve client browsing performance

Postby oig01 » Oct 19 07 5:53 am

i setup wingate on a machine with windows xp pro sp2 on a domain. I am testing one machine and I have the java authentication as the default. The first two web pages that are browsed are semi-fast but then after that the IE browsers stalls, freezes, turns all white and I have to kill the process. Any idea to fix this? Within the IE internet options I set the proxy to point to the ip address of the wingate server and port 80.

i changed the authentication to basic and the browsing is working faster now. However, basic is unsecure so what other options do I have.

there is NTLM as an option.

You'll need to use the Windows user database in WinGate though.

Is Windows database the active directory and therefore not the users list in wingate. I have a single computer which will have mulitple people using the internet so I need to have a sign on for each person.

The Windows database is either the native Windows one or an active directory, depending on how you configure WinGate it can use either.
