collecting catchall email problem

Postby kikker » Nov 15 07 4:48 am

I have setup the email server as per scenario 3 (in your pdf on setting up the server).
Sending from the clients works fine.
However the server is not collecting the mail from the ISP.
I have the feeling it is actually not connecting to the ISP at all.
If I look in the History tab it shows the collecting with IP address 127.0.0.2.
In the manual it says "the Domain you enter needs to have a DNS record located........". Can this be a reason for not working if so where do I do this?

Thanks for any help

Sjoerd

edit: In the history tab it shows the attempt to collect the email and says "login failed".
To test the settings I created an outlook express account (on the same PC) with the details provided by the ISP and the email is collected without a problem!

Hi

Sounds like an issue with selection of authentication mechanism in the POP3 collection.

There are some servers for instance that advertise APOP but don't actually support it. Some other servers do weird things.

WinGate by default tries to select the most secure advertised method, but these sorts of servers break that.

You could try manually setting an authentication mechanism, e.g. USER/PASS should work.

I changed that setting and now it works.

Thanks a lot!

It's in the settings for the POP3 collection

GateKeeper->Email->POP3 Collection-><account>
