NTLM with Terminal Server

Postby scottiamit » Feb 04 08 10:52 am

Hi I have been using NTLM authentication for a long time now and use two terminal servers. All of a sudden some users are being wrongly authenticated as other users. I reset the registry to a previous save but this did not resolve the issue.

When I look at the activity tab I can see the user being authenticated as 'timm' where it should be 'michelep' any ideas?

Cheers.

what type of authentication are you using? do you happen to be using assumptions for users or not ?

Hi, I am using NTLM authentication which is working from Active Directory. I have our 2 terminal servers listed as multi user machines and I have removed and then refreshed the users and that seems to of fixed it so far. Thanks.

Sorry I lied the user is still getting authenticated as 'timm' when the actual user is 'michelep'. Need some help with this please, I really don't want to reinstall from scratch. Thanks.

Hi

Can you check the history to see if the names match up? I've seen occasionally the tree view for activity not updating properly to show when a user changes from Guest to the authed user. THe history will log the actual username that the user authed as.

Also, nothing's changed regards requiring auth in the policy has it?

Regards

Adrien

Sorry for the late reply but I was on annual leave. I tried the logs and they were showing the wrong person for the website being visited also. After you asked about the policy I decided to remove all users configured and start again from scratch. So far this is working correctly now but I still need to allow some sites as guest so I will see how this goes.

Cheers.
