Sorry, I meant could you please copy the exact error message that you receive? That doesn't sound like an error message that we would display.
You say when you open WinGate, do you mean when you start GateKeeper? If you go to start--programs--wingate--gatekeeper you will load the GateKeeper.exe, which is the administration console for WinGate.
Are you getting prompted for a username and password or do you receive the error message before that?
If you get a message that GateKeeper cannot load, you may be better off reinstalling.
If you do see a login prompt and you get a message saying "there was a problem connecting to the server. Connection refused by server. Check your server name and port number" then you'll need to check that you're logging on to the localhost, and that port 808 does not already have a service running on it.
If you get a message saying "There was a problem connecting to the server. Bad password - recheck your password" then you'll need to check your username and password.
