Firewall isues

Postby tj » Feb 18 08 2:15 pm

Just a quick one.
Is it ok to have three firewalls? or the WinGate firewall can be accurate enough if set correctly to secure my WinGate computer and my client computer.

You can have as many firewalls as you need however it is not really necessary and it can get quite cumbersome i.e. if you say want to open a hole in your firewall then you will need to open it in all 3 firewalls.

Hi

Actually some other firewalls can interfere with WinGate operation, so we don't recommend running other ones. We've had problems in the past with ZoneAlarm especially.

Depending on whether the other firewalls load above or below WinGate in the network stack, they may prevent NAT from working.
