WWW Proxy server - error 10013

Postby dazzur » Dec 16 08 11:46 am

Have just purchased & installed Wingate 6.5 (thanks team) but the WWW Proxy Server service reports "Service startup complete or partial failure - Check your bindings".

When I check the log file for this service the message is:

12/16/08 08:25:57 Error: Service failed startup on interface 192.168.1.102:80 error 10013

The bindings option in the service properties shows a status of error against the loopback interface and the lan connection - both on port 80. The option to bind to any IP address on any internal adapter is selected [on] with the port setting being [default].

Am running Vista SP1; firewall is off.

Could you please point me the right direction. I can't seem to find any reference to the error code [10013] in the help file and the only reference in the forum wasn't useful.

I'm probably doing something wrong - but not sure what.

Hi Dazzur,

Sounds like there might be something else already running on port 80 on this machine. You can test this by changing the WinGate WWW proxy service to run on port 8080, does it start now? If so, you'll either need to find and stop whatever is running on port 80 already, or leave the WinGate WWW proxy server running on a different port.

Hope that helps.

Yep - that was the cause; I had a web server running on port 80 (typing error as should have put it on another port - 8080) - now all is good.
