Routing query

Postby thomassa » Jul 23 09 5:09 am

I have two internal subnets connected to Wingate. The PC's on each get out to the internet fine but cannot communicate internally to pc's across the subnets. I have checked the wingate settings but cannot find anything which appears out of the ordinary. Could you offer any suggestions as routing is not really my strong point?

Hi Thomas. Could you provide us with the results of a "route print" command from your WinGate server. This will give me a good understanding of your current network topography.

Start -> Run -> cmd -> route print

Hi Thomas,

Please ensure that both the 192.168.150.1 and 192.168.151.1 network adaptors are marked as Internal in the network tab of the GateKeeper. If either one or both of the network adaptors is marked as External, WinGate will perform NATing between the subnets rather than routing.

Ensure that routing is enabled in WinGate's Extended Network configuration.
- GateKeeper -> Extended Networking -> General -> 'Support for multiple subnetworks (router)' must be checked.

Also, check any firewall software installed on the client computers. Most firewall programs will distrust connections made from foreign subnets by default, in which case WinGate might be routing traffic between the subnets, but the firewalls of the client computers could be blocking routed traffic.

Hi,
I checked the Gatekeeper settings as suggested and all were correct. The two internally facing subnets are marked as internal the third (that goes to the internet is marked as external. I switched off the msfirewall on the clients but this had no effect. I can communicate with PC's fine on the same subnet but still cannot if Itry ones on the other one?. Strange one this.
Regards
