IE Can't display Web page+Wingate 6.6.3

Postby dtp.ssaa@gmail.com » Sep 24 09 2:53 am

Hi,

I installed Wingate 6.6.3 trial version on Windows 2003 Server .
my client pc (windows xp sp2) is conneted with server thru switch.
Network tab of Gatekeeper windows shows two network cards marked as Internal and External.
My External NIC card configured with Static IP provided by ISP
and Internal card with IP & Subnet Like (192.168.xxx.xxx & 255.255.xxx.0).

My Client pc (with 1 NIC configured with IP:192.168.xxx.xxx
& Gateway with IP of Internal NIC of server) do not have Wingate Client Installed.

In this situation Internet is working fine on my client pc.

when I enable www proxy transparent redirection and start service on port 80
for banning certain sites my client browser shows
"Internet Explorer Can't display Web page".

When i again stop www proxy transparent redirection on port 80 It is again working.

I do not not what is happening.

Please Help Me...

Couple of things to check.

1. Is the proxy service bound to the internal network adapter.
- GateKeeper -> Services -> WWW Proxy Service -> Bindings

2. Disable friendly error messages in your browser in case IE is masking an actual error being thrown by WinGate.
- Internet Explorer -> Advanced -> Uncheck 'Show friendly HTTP error messages"

I checked following things.

1 WWW Proxy Service -> Bindings to Internal NIC that connect to other computers
thru switch for internet sharing.

2. Unchecked Internet Explorer -> Advanced ->'Show friendly HTTP error messages" option.

one this i would like to mention that my clients are not on LAN.

Thanks
