Is Internet Protection (Norton Antivirus) needed on clients?

Postby Shaz444 » Jan 08 04 11:09 am

Or only the Server PC requires it?
I have NIS(norton antivirus software installed on the server) setup, but do I need the same software for clients or not?
So as to browse the internet freely.

Hi

NIS installed on the Wingate Server will have no affect at protecting your clients browsing the Internet through WinGate .

However if you wish to protect your network from Virus threats from the Internet and require a Antivirus solution that will scan data through WinGate then I would suggest the Kaspersky Antivirus for WinGate plug-in which you can read about here

I have a similar question, maybe you can get me some advice.

Im using NAVCE (Norton Antivirus Corporate Edicion) in my WG Server, and the clients in the workstations.

I was trying to use the Kaspersky Antivirus Plugin, to reinforce the antivirus security of my server. My plan, originally was, KA check the streams geting in my server, then checked by NAVCE. But, in the case of POP3 server doesn't work this way. Always, NAVCE detect the virus before KA. So, WG POP3 server doesn't find any .msg files, so moved to death.

If I want to know who is the sender of the virus, in case this come from a workstation inside my network, I need to KA detect the virus first, then NAVCE. I think in exclude in NAVCE the incoming folder of wingate, but I don't think this could be a good idea...

Right now, I uninstall KA, until I figure it out how to get this two work together.

I hear comments.

Regards.

JD.
