Client PC won't get default gateway and DNS

Postby toughman » Apr 15 10 1:56 pm

I have two NIC's with Wingate. The Wingate machine (Vista) can connect to internet and the client PC (XP) with DHCP will get IP and netmask but no default gateway and DNS.

The client PC can ping (192.168.2.2) the Winagte machine (192.168.2.1) but not public IP or domain name. The client machine with static IP setup (gateway and DNS: 192.168.2.1) can 't ping public IP or domain name, but will show public IP when pinging public domain name.

Can anyone tell me where I need to check?

Thanks in advance.

HI,

How are the network adaptors in Wingate designated, is the external NIC shown as external // internal as internal?

Is ENS installed [Extended Networking Service]?

Provided the ENS driver was installed:

GateKeeper >> Extended Networking >> General 'tab' >> "Enable Extended Network Driver"

double click on "Extended Networking" in the system services tab in gatekeeper once you are connected to WinGate with it.

if Extended Networking does not show, that means it's not installed.

What sort of WinGate license are you running? If pre WinGate 4, there's no NAT available, or if you did not choose to install it when you installed WinGate it wouldn't be there.

You'll need to check your license. If it's too old, you don't get ENS, and may need to update your license.

Check in help->licensing and select the license, it will show you details in the lower panel.
